“Good Burger 2” has officially been greenlit at Paramount+, with original stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell set to return.
The news came to light on Friday's episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The sequel to the beloved Nickelodeon film will begin production in May and is planned to debut on Paramount+ later in 2023.

“I can't believe it's been a little over 25 years since good customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson said in a statement. “I am so proud to have been a part of the love of so many generations and now to be back at the stage where work has started on the sequel, it is awesome! Love performing with my brother Kel and can't wait to show fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”
“Good Burger” originated as a sketch on the Nickelodeon series “All That” starring Mitchell as Ed. It was then superseded in the 1997 film. It proved to be a box office success, grossing just under $24 million against a reported budget of $8 million. It has gone on to achieve cult status, with Mitchell and Thompson reuniting for a “Good Burger” sketch on “The Tonight Show” in 2015 and later stating over the years that they would be working on a new iteration of the film. were open Mitchell also appeared as Ed in the “All That” revival series in 2019.
According to the film's official logline, “Dexter Reed (Thompson) is down on his luck after another of his inventions fails. Ed (MICHEL) welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new team working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately once again puts the fate of Good Burger at risk.”
Mitchell said, “Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it's such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after so many years.” It's great for the grown-ups and their kids to come back and continue watching.
Kevin Copello and Heath Seifert, who co-wrote the original film and worked on “All That”, serve as writers and executive producers on the sequel. James III is also the writer of the film. Phil Trail will direct. Nickelodeon Studios will produce. The film's production for Nickelodeon Studios is overseen by Shauna Phelan and Zack Olin, co-head of Nickelodeon and Awesomeness Live-Action. Brittany Cope serves as the Nickelodeon executive in charge of production.

Thompson is replaced by UTA and Michael Goldman. Mitchell has been replaced by UTA and Levity Live.

This marks the latest Nickelodeon property to be revived on Paramount+. The streamer also has an “iCarly” revival series in the works. renewed for third seasonas well as an updated version of “Rugrats” among others.
