‘I’m absolutely downhearted’: Rod Stewart cancels show at last minute due to ‘infection’

“Live Nation and Roundhouse Entertainment regret to announce that tonight’s performance by Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper and John Stevens at Mount Duneed Estate, Geelong will not go ahead due to illness,” it read.

“We apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience to ticket holders. A further announcement regarding concert arrangements will be made early next week.

All three artists – Stewart, Lauper and Stevens – shared the same statement on social media. Lauper wrote with the announcement, “Reposting from Sir Rod Stewart.”

In a follow-up Instagram post, Stewart elaborated on the reason for the cancellation.

He wrote, ‘Hello my friends. “I’m absolutely gutted that I’m letting my fans down who bought tickets for A Day on the Green. Late this morning I was told I’ve got a viral infection and my throat is too sore to sing Has been

“I’m only human and get sick like you sometimes. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get well and get back on stage.”

Stewart, 77, recently returned from a scan himself.

During Sky News’ “Your Say” segment he said, “I’ve personally been a Tory for a long time but I think this government must now stand down and the Labor Party must go, it’s heartbreaking Is.”
